While many people point to fall as their favorite time of year, it can also be one of the busiest. Kids are back to school, home owners are getting ready for winter, the holidays loom… it sometimes seems like there is always something pressing to do and no time to spare.

But spare you should. Fall offer many opportunities to do things that, quite frankly, you don’t have a chance to do at other times of the year. That wedge of time between “Oh darn, summer is over” and “Oh darn, winter is here” is special, and the following 15 activities are not only fall-worthy and fun, but also inexpensive to free. Fall goes fast… grab your kids and your camera and head out!

Go on a leaf walk. Even your most mundane of hikes/walks becomes magical in the fall. If you’re in an area that experiences foliage, grab the family and head out to soak in the reds, oranges, and yellows of the turning leaves. Take a picnic and camera and shoot for someplace with a little elevation for a real visual treat.
