Don’t Throw Out Ends of Onions or Garlic

Gardeners can get a little winter joy from this tip.Don’t throw out the bottom quarter of onions or garlic cloves, but rather place them in a container filled with dirt and keep them watered. The bit of onion/garlic will develop roots and sprouts that you can use in salads or sandwiches, and if you don’t cut them all the way down, it will continue to do so for several weeks. This is a particularly good idea in the winter, when anything green growing is worth its weight in mood gold.
