Alternatives to Restaurants

Save money by considering dining alternatives when on vacation.

One area that will quickly add up when vacationing is food. Restaurants can be fantastic experiences, but you should view them as special treats, and not de facto food sources when vacationing. A much better and cheaper option is to seek out the local grocery stores and supermarkets. Many now offer soup or salad bars, as well as other culinary conveniences, and the simple truth is that you could feed yourself for a whole week at most supermarkets for the cost of one or two meals out. By all means hit a restaurant or three as a special treat, but don’t rely on them for all your meals or your wallet will be much the lighter.
