Extend the Life of Furnace Filters

This tip can also be used on refrigerator coils.


The life of furnace filters can be extended by vacuuming them regularly. While this can add several months to them, you should eventually replace them when they start to look ragged or dust still falls out of it when you shake it after vacuuming.

      A good way to know if your furnace filter needs to be changed, is to hold it up to a light source and if none to very little light passes through, then you know it’s probably a good time to get a new one.
