Recipe – A Traditional Suet

A must for winter birds.

1 1/4 pounds suet
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup crushed peanuts
1/2 cup cracked corn kernels

Melt the suet in an oven or sauce pan, then stir in the rest of the ingredients. Spoon into a mold of some kind and insert a drinking straw through the top. Place into the refrigerator to cool. When solid, remove from mold, remove the straw and thread a string through the hole that remains. Hand suet from any limb, etc. in the shade (alternately, leave out the straw step and just put into a suet cage).
