Using Egg Cartons as Starter Kits
Another recyclable comes to the garden rescue. One good use for empty egg cartons: as starter kits for your seeds. If you buy eggs in cartons made with paper fiber as opposed to plastic, you can start the seeds (one or two to an egg depression), keep them watered, then just cut out each egg depression (this should be fairly easy, as the carton should be starting to degrade already) and replant it in a larger container when the plant is big enough. Not only is this an inexpensive solution, but it’s also much better for the plants in that you won’t be disturbing their fragile root structure.
