Red Cabbage with Apples

A sweet way to serve red cabbage.

  • 1 large head of red cabbage, washed and coarsely chopped
  • 2 medium onions, coarsely chopped
  • 6 tart apples, cored and quartered
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup cider vinegar
  • 6 tablespoons butter

Place the cabbage, onions and apples in a crockpot; season with salt. Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the cabbage. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
