Apple Betty
A delicious use for day-old bread.
- 3 pounds cooking apples such as Granny Smith
- 10 slices of bread, cubed
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup melted butter
Wash, peel, core and cut apples into eighths. Place the apple wedges in a buttered crockpot and top with a combination of the rest of the ingredients. Cook on low for 2 ½ to 4 hours.
