Set Straight Garden Rows

For those with the fanatical need to keep their carrots and peas perfectly parallel.

This simple tip can provide a lot of enjoyment in the neat, straight rows that will make up your garden. To create a perfect line of seedlings, take a ball of twine and tie one end of it to a stick or tomato stake. Stick the stake into the ground at one end of where you want the row to go, then walk across the garden, unrolling the twine, until you have a nice straight seed guide in the line. Dig your row and plant your seeds based on that line, move the stake over several inches or more (depending on what you’re growing), and repeat.
