By planting certain plants together, or apart, you can keep unwanted insect pests away.It’s called companion planting, and it’s been developed over centuries as a way to naturally protect agricultural plots from pests, either by keeping them away or by attracting things that eat them. A prime example of companion planting is marigold, which can help deter a great many types of bad bugs if planted in the garden, particularly around tomatoes. Herbs such as parsley, garlic and basil are also pungent pest deterrents.
