Buy in Season, Freeze For Off

You’ll save money buying foods in season and preserving them.

One of the best ways to do this is to blanch them off slightly (to lock in nutrients), then dry them well and pack your freezer with them. If you have, say, a bushel of green beans, this will actually take less time than you’d think, and you’ll have beans for the winter.

Something like tomatoes or cucumbers (pickles) are better off canned, although this is a bit more work than freezing.
