Cast Iron Care

Once you’ve got your cast-iron skillet or pan seasoned, make sure it stays that way.

The first thing to know about cleaning cast-iron is NO SOAP. This will cause the cast-iron to nick or will dry out the finish, causing foods to stick and burn. The best way to clean cast-iron is with a rag and hot water. Make sure you dry off the skillet with a towel or let it dry over a low flame, or else it will rust.

Have a stain that won’t come off with just a rag and water? Try using a little salt and a damp cloth and rub at the stain, much as you would a scouring pad.
