A Door? A Desk!

Hard up for a desk? Would you happen to have a door lying around? At its core, a desk is really nothing more than a flat surface that you can write on, and an old door fits this need quite well. If it’s looking a little ratty, sand it down and slap a coat of polyurethane on it. The desk can be raised to the needed level with just about anything, from old milk crates (yeah, we have a couple of those kinds of work surfaces here) or saw horses to file cabinets you can pick up cheap at office supply depots or yard sales.

Put off by a gaping doorknob hole in the surface of your desk? Slap a cup in it and you have a handy pencil holder. Better yet, snake all your computer and other electronic cords through it to keep them organized.
