Sniff Out Car Engine Troubles

Your nose should be your first line of defense when it comes to car troubles.If you smell:

-exhaust fumes. This is usually a sign that something in your exhaust system – your muffler, tailpipe, exhaust manifold – is cracked, disconnected or has a hole in it. It also means you’re breathing in exhaust fumes, which can be lethal. Get this checked out immediately.


-sweet. A sweet aroma could be an antifreeze leak. Check your radiator and related cooling hoses.

-sulfur. The smell of rotten eggs could mean an emissions system problem.

-burning plastic/rubber. This could be a problem with overheating wiring.
