Las Vegas on the Cheap
If what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, the “What happens” part of that equation is usually your hard-earned cash. Let’s face it, in a city where you can literally throw thousands of dollars at a roll of the dice, money has a disappearing quality that Jimmy Hoffa could aspire to.
But it’s not all paved in gold. There are any number of places you can eat, drink, stay and visit in Las Vegas where you won’t lose your shirt… so long as you avoid the one-armed bandits that are to be found every three feet. Vegas Pop covers some of these Vegas budget-travel finds in their recent blog entry, “How to Be Cheap in Vegas Without Being Dirty.”
From the article:
I’ll get a lot of “Fletch is stupid” mail for this, but one of the best places to people watch is aboard the Las Vegas Monorail. It’s relatively cheap (in some cases free) and you get an interesting look at the city and its visitors. By “city,” I mean the Strip and by “visitors,” I mean reality show-worthy individuals with no shame. My favorite is the mullet guy with the optional fanny pack that thinks “rock the train” is just as funny “rock the bus” was back on high-school field trips.

I stayed someplace when I was in Vegas a year, year and a half ago. I think it was called the Imperial Palace?? $47 a night and it was right on the strip. Not a bad place for the price, and seriously, it’s Las Vegas. You don’t hit the room much, hehe.
Great article though. It brought back some good memories.

Any idea where one can gamble cheaply? Last time I was in Las Vegas, I blew my stake in about three hours. Thank God for ATM’s.
Foxwoods too, come to think of it. Man, I gotta stop gambling, LOL.
