Don’t Procrastinate on Spills

This should be your first line of defense when it comes to cleaning. When a spill happens, deal with it right away. Fresh spills are much easier to handle right after they happen, as opposed to giving them time to set in/dry, and you’ll also avoid any chance that pets or children will track the spilled material into other sections of the house.

In a similar vein, when you recycle, cans of soup, spaghetti sauce, etc. are much easier to clean if you rinse them out right after use, as opposed to letting them sit on the counter for a period of time.

I keep a box of rags/old towels under the kitchen sink that I use specifically for spills and wiping down the kitchen counter. I save on paper towels and always have a good absorbant towel in case the kool-aid hits the floor.
