Beef and Bean Goulash

This hearty dish can be baked in the oven or finished off in a couple of hours in a crockpot. This serves 8 to 10.

½ pound ground beef
½ pound bacon
2 stalks celery
1 small onion
1 can each (15 ounce) kidney beans, butter beans, pork and beans
1 tablespoon vinegar
½ teaspoon dry mustard
½ cup barbecue sauce
½ cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar

Brown the ground beef, bacon, celery and onion. Add the rest of the ingredients, mix well and bake in a casserole dish at 350 degrees for 30 minutes (alternately, place all in a crockpot and cook on low for two hours).

Note: ketchup can be substituted for the barbecue sauce. Also, if, like me, a little sugar goes a long way with you, feel free to lower the amounts of white and brown sugar listed above.
